Wii (a.k.a. Wee! Wyy? Waa? Wtf?)

In announcing the new name of their on-the-horizon next-gen console, Nintendo was hoping that the reaction to the new name, Wii, would be positive...

...something along the lines of "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But so far, the reaction has been more like "Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????????????"

...or a Jon Stewart-esque "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?????????????"

...or even "Wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff???????????????", from the potty mouths out there.

In the end, though, it's all about the games, right? Right. And this is especially true with Nintendo. But why put yourself behind the eight ball with a little naming weirdness?

I decided to check out the source, the Nintendo website, but it seems that many many other folks are as curious as am I, since this is what greeted me:
